Most "lo-fi" plugins fake it with a bandpass and some vinyl crackle on a loop. HAUNTED LOVE actually models the medium: your audio is written to a tape ring, warped by wow and flutter measured in cents, saturated, band-limited, and dropped out — then bit-crushed and widened on the way back. Four knobs, a draggable ghost, one analog chain, and it never sounds the same twice because the wander is real.
The ghost swirling on the screen is a control: drag it and you set how fast the wow and flutter wander. Cents-based pitch warp through a cubic-interpolated tape ring, the seasick everyone else pastes on with an LFO. Park the ghost where the motion feels right and it stays there.
A depth multiplier over the whole wow/flutter stage, from dead-steady 0.0x up to a fully warped 2.0x. Leave it at 1.0 for honest tape, crank it for a chewed 45 that can barely hold a note.
An envelope-keyed TPT filter that opens and chokes with the signal and takes random high-end dropouts, like a cable going bad mid-take. Dark, unstable, alive.
Band-limited, dithered bit/rate crush with auto-gain makeup, so you can grind the sample rate down to garbage without the level jumping. Gentle grain to full digital collapse.
Equal-power, delay-compensated dry/wet so it never smears the transient. Blend a ghost in behind the dry signal, or drown the whole thing in dead media.
Behind those four knobs the analog chain is always running: asymmetric tape saturation, a signal-modulated hiss and 60Hz hum bed, and M/S width out to 150%. The 110 presets ride all of it, so loading one moves far more than the front panel alone.
